'Lotería Loca' Has a Special Salute to Teachers (Exclusive Clip)

Lotería Loca is saluting teachers in tonight's episode! The Jaime Camil-hosted game show is inspired by the Latin bingo Lotería. Each episode brings on two contestants as they play multiple rounds in hopes of filling up their board, landing on their cards, and taking home some big cash prizes. On Monday's episode, the series will be celebrating educators, as they so rightfully deserve.

In a PopCulture.com exclusive clip, the Jane the Virgin alum explains to the audience that they will be celebrating teachers. "These are the people that nurture and expand the minds of our children," Camil shared. To show their appreciation, they want to  "nurture and expand their bank accounts." Not just expand. Because it's Lotería Loca, Camil made sure to say that they are going to "Loca expand" their bank accounts by 1 million dollars. Competing in the special episode are Minnesota substitute teacher Jess and Atlanta high school music teacher Billy. 

Lotería Loca premiered on CBS on Oct. 2 as part of the network's 2023 fall schedule and heavily unscripted and acquired slate. Despite the Latin and Mexican roots, Lotería Loca is a game show for all, and the contestants of all ethnicities and backgrounds prove it. While speaking to PopCulture ahead of the show's premiere, Camil said the series is "meant for primetime television, no doubt. It is meant for the CBS core audience. While at the same time, a big, underserved audience will feel very proud to have a piece of our culture out there. But make no mistake about it, it is a TV show, a game show designed for the mainstream audience."

Coincidentally, Wheel of Fortune recently had Teacher's Week. It seems like teachers are being celebrated a lot lately, and for good reason. They definitely deserve it, and it's nice to see them getting the recognition they so rightfully deserve. It's going to be both entertaining and interesting to see how the episode plays out and which educator will be going home with some big bucks. Though no matter who wins, they will have a pretty great story to tell their students. It's likely this was filmed over the summer, meaning those start-of-the-year icebreakers would have been pretty fun.
