Little Big Town's Kimberly Schlapman Opens up About Finding Love After the Death of Her Husband

Country star Kimberly Schlapman lost her first husband in 2005, and has since found love with her second husband, Steven Schlapman.

Schlapman and her Little Big Town bandmate Karen Fairchild hosted The Talk on July 10, and while there, the topic of comedian Patton Oswalt's recent engagement was brought up.

Oswalt lost his wife 15 months ago and announced his engagement this week, and critics accused him of moving on too quickly. Schlapman stepped up to defend him on the show, letting viewers know she supports Oswalt.

"I can speak personally to this," the mom of two said. "I was married for 14 years to a wonderful man, and he passed away. Then, nine months later, I began a spark with an old friend."

"One hundred percent I am so sure of this: my new husband was sent to me from heaven from my late husband," she continued. "I feel like he was up there saying, 'She needs somebody to love her and to give her a baby too, because she's wanted a baby so much.' "

Schlapman added that Fairchild's words of support helped her through her time of grieving as Fairchild promised, "There will be love again."

The 47-year-old singer also offered Oswalt a supportive message as well, saying, "Patton, I wish you the greatest love and healing, and I'm so happy for you."
