On last night’s Monday Night Raw, it was announced that Rusev would defend his United States Championship against Roman Reigns at SummerSlam in two weeks.

Rusev has held the championship since May after defeating Kalisto at Extreme Rules. He’s in his second reign with the title after his first reign lasted almost a year. Roman is looking for a comeback after his month-long suspension from the company and it’s doubtful the WWE officials will let him near the world title again anytime soon.

What’s good about this is that Rusev is the perfect heel for Roman to take on at this juncture in his career. It was hinted at last week during Raw that Roman would be going after the second-tier championship when he confronted Rusev. A feud like this, win or lose, is the type of rebound that Roman needs.

If Roman ends up winning, he would become a Triple Crown Champion.

WWE SummerSlam airs August 21, only on the WWE Network.
