When one door closes on FBI: International, another one opens. After Deadline reported that Luke Kleintank will surprisingly be leaving the CBS procedural after the May 7 episode, Chicago Med is stepping in. According to People, Donnell will appear in the final two episodes of Season 3 in an undisclosed role. Whether or not this could be a permanent role is unclear, but the timing definitely can’t be coincidental.
Donnell is no stranger to the Dick Wolf universe. He starred as Dr. Connor Rhodes in the first four seasons of NBC’s Chicago Med, making his official departure in the Season 5 premiere in 2019. He was also on Arrow, Peacock’s The Irreverent, The Affair, Pan Am, and more. Since FBI: International‘s season finale airs on May 21 and Donnell makes his first appearance on May 14, it shouldn’t be long until more information on his role is revealed.

Meanwhile, Kleintank has portrayed Scott Forrester since the beginning of FBI: International, leading the Fly Team. In a statement about his departure, he said, “After much thought and consideration, I’ve made the difficult decision to leave FBI: International. This decision is driven by my unwavering commitment to my family, whose love and well-being are paramount in my life. I’m profoundly thankful for the extraordinary cast and crew of the show, who have not only been colleagues but also a family away from home. Their unwavering dedication and remarkable talents have made every moment on set an unforgettable journey that has enriched my life in countless ways. Lastly, I would also like to extend my thanks to the fans who have supported us through the first three seasons.”
This will mark the latest casting change for the FBI spinoff. Heida Reed departed in the Season 3 premiere as Special Agent Jamie Kellett, while Christina Wolfe came on in the same episode as intel analyst Amanda Tate. Since FBI: International, there’s no telling what could be in store and if Colin Donnell will be included or if his character is only sticking around to round out the third season.
Don’t miss Colin Donnell’s first episode of FBI: International airing on Tuesday, May 14 at 9 p.m. ET on CBS, with the Season 3 finale airing the following week. Hopefully, that won’t be the last time fans see him on International, but you never know what could happen.
