Miley Cyrus has joined the ranks of numerous celebrities jumping in to donate to relief efforts after Hurricane Harvey, and she's tearfully revealed how much she's donating in a recent interview.
Speaking to Ellen, Cyrus announced that she and her Happy Hippie Foundation are donating $500,000 to help with hurricane relief efforts, a story first shared by PEOPLE.
She also spoke about the impact seeing the devastation has had on her, saying, "My grandma is sitting here and my mom's here and I go home to my seven dogs and if I didn't have that anymore, it would just be really hard. So I am really happy to help in any way I can."
"And I hope people understand and can put themselves in those people's shoes and just to know what it feels like to have everything taken away from you," the singer added.
While Cyrus has been applauded by many for her generosity, other celebs haven't had quite the same response.
Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez posted a video on Instagram announcing that they were donating a collective $50,000 and the reactions to that were mixed to negative.
"God bless. You too for this good gesture and compassion," one person wrote.
"With all the money you both are worth that's all you can come with ??? That's embarrassing don't even post it and you should of kept it quiet," another said.
Many followers acknowledged other celebrities that gave more.
"Sandra Bullock alone donated 1 million," said one person.
"Chris Brown just gave 100,000. And both of you are worth way more then him," wrote another.
This sentiment seemed to resonate with many, as one commenter fired off, "That's pocket money for arod cmon."
