The 42-year-old former soccer superstar took to Facebook Live during a trip to Bangkok and spoke out about how he and his wife Victoria Beckham are "always very affectionate" towards their four children.

The picture in question showed Beckham kissing his daughter Harper while the family was enjoying a safari trip during a recent vacation in Tanzania. Shortly after sharing the snap online, negative commenters labeled the interaction as "disgusting."

Despite the backlash, the English star says, "I kiss all my kids on the lips. Brooklyn maybe not. Brooklyn is 18, so he might find that a little strange, but I'm very affectionate with the kids."

He continued by saying: "It's how I was brought up - and Victoria - and it's how we are with our children. We want to show our kids love and we protect them, look after them and support them."

Just like David, Victoria Beckham has also been slammed by haters in the past for posting pictures that show her kissing Harper on the lips. Last year, the former Spice Girl shared a snap during a pool day with her daughter. The mother of four kissed her youngest on the lips, and it sparked a wide debate on social media.

One person wrote: "It is strange to kiss your parents on the lips, we need to stop saying to other people it isn't."

Many of Victoria's fans also came to her defense.

"This is a perfectly normal moment for any parent and child. The things people have been saying are rude and how can they have the audacity to say it," one user commented.

"People reading into this are simply sick themselves. There is absolutely nothing sexual about this."
