“It’s nice to put the priority back on myself and just do what I need to do,” she said.
The athlete and the pro golfer broke up in May 2015, and Vonn revealed that the pair are “still on good terms.”
“I loved him so much, and I still do,” she said, “and it just didn’t work, you know?”
She cited their busy schedules as a partial reason for their split, adding that the break-up was “really hard.”
The skier also spoke about injuries she’s overcome in the past, as well as her secret to staying focused during the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver, where she won a gold medal.
“I made a lot of banana bread,” she revealed. “I think my coaches all gained at least 10 lbs.”
Vonn’s episode of Running Wild with Bear Grylls will air Monday on NBC.
