Nearly two weeks after O.J. Simpson was granted parole, his family name has already made headlines.

According to the New York Post, Simpson's children Sydney and Justin, who he shared with ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson, has gone on a real estate spending spree. Their major purchases have caught the attention of Ron Goldman's and Nicole's families.

Sydney, 31, and Justin, 28, have purchased 13 properties where they live in St. Petersburg, Florida, over the last two years. The homes and apartments are reportedly in low-income areas and total about $500,000.

The reason these purchases are under scrutiny is because each property was bought with cash so there are no mortgages on the properties.

After Simpson's acquittal of the 1994 murders of Nicole and Goldman, he was found liable for their deaths in a civil proceeding in 1997. The victims' families were awarded $33.5 million from the former NFL player, most of which he still owes them.

David Cook, a lawyer for Goldman's father, Fred, told the Post that he wants their bank records and depositions to see if the money used to purchase the homes came from their father.

"The first stop is to unearth the records and testimony of the family members to ensure that the source of the equity to acquire the real property is free of any taint," Cook said.

TMZ alleges that the Goldmans will have a tough battle ahead of them because much of Simpson's wealth is protected under Florida law.

Although Simpson's children have remained out of the spotlight, Sydney's reported boyfriend, Robert Blackmon, appears to be dipping his toes into politics. Blackmon, 28, is one of eight candidates running for an open City Council seat in St. Petersburg.

He denied on Monday that the two were dating, says voters will need to decide if his connection to Simpson is an issue.

"I probably shouldn't be speaking about the Simpsons without their permission," Blackmon admitted. "The entire Simpson family are great people. They've been great friends to me."
