Gwen Stefani Admits Her 'Dreams Were Shattered' After Divorce

Gwen Stefani has had quite the spring and summer, leading a picture-perfect life with her new boyfriend and topping the country charts with their new single, but the rocker admits it hasn't been an easy journey to get back on track after her divorce from Gavin Rossdale.

"My dreams were shattered," she told Harper's Bazaar. "All I wanted my whole life was to have babies, be married, like what my parents have."

The mother of three shared that the hardest part about splitting from her ex-husband after two decades of marriage was having to share custody of her children.

"It was so insane because not only did my family break up, but then my kids are taken away like half the time, so that was really like, 'What?! What did I do?'" she revealed.

"You know when it gets that bad, you just get desperate? You're on your knees. You're like, 'What do I do?'" Her life has turned around since then. She is now dating country star Blake Shelton and the duo has been living it up together.

"It was like being handed this gift of a friend who was going through the exact same thing at the exact same time," she recalled of learning that her Voice co-star was going through a divorce. "And then everything flipped. It went from horrible to, like, hopeful and like, 'Wow, God, you just don't know what's gonna happen next.' "

The two of them have been sharing a lot of their lives both professionally and personally. But, they don't reveal every aspect of their lives. Stefani likes to keep some things to herself.

"It's because I have children [Kingston, 10, Zuma, 7, and Apollo, 2]," she explained. "As a famous person, you start to think, 'I can't say all that because I'll embarrass them or hurt them in some way.' And especially now because they can see everything and hear everything. But I've done nothing I'm shamed of . . . Well, we all have a few things we're ashamed of."
