Alexa Bliss has taken WWE by storm. In less than a year, Ms. Bliss has become both the RAW and SmackDown Women's Champion - the first female to ever do so. But if it were up to her mother, none of this would have ever happened:

In an interview with Great Day Houston, the Goddess of WWE talked about when she originally got the idea to start wrestling:

"It's such an amazing sport, I watched it growing up and it was never really something I knew I could get into, but once I got the opportunity I knew I had to get on it and I knew I had to try for it. I told my mom, I said, 'Mom I'm going to try out for WWE.' Her response was, 'The heck you are!' She was like 'You're are not doing that!' So I had to try out without her knowing but now she's like the biggest supporter and so proud of me."

It's never good to lie to your mother, but Bliss omitting her try out to her mother has turned out to be quite the fruitful risk. Not only did WWE have to call an audible to adjust to the rising Bliss, but even the RAW Women's Championship needed its own set of alterations:

"This is the RAW Women's Championship. What's funny is - this is a little backstage information - the championship had to be shortened for me because it was so big on me, they actually had to take off size to let it fit me. But that's why I'm 'Five Feet Of Fury."

Entering off-radar was probably the best thing for Bliss, as she was able to mold her character without the micromanagement that a Sasha Banks or Bayley surely encountered. That freedom to maneuver one's character is the lifeblood of WWE. Bliss serves as a reminder to us and all of wrestling that to make it in this business, you can't just be a good wrestler; you have to be a great character. In Bliss, WWE found a vibrant personality who should be able to deliver their timeless philosophies. Conversely, Bliss finds herself in a realm of swelling expectation, but by now, we know better than to underestimate her.
