Could SmackDown‘s valet turned wrestler be getting her own valet? For the third match in a row, Lana has been squashed by SmackDown Women’s Champion, Naomi. However, during their last contest, Lana was helped up and to the back by Tamina. While the pairing seemed a bit random, the latest Wrestling Observer Radio is claiming that Tamina will likely be the bodyguard for Lana moving forward.
Several months ago, Lana tried out the gimmick while working NXT live events with a bodyguard named Mary Kate. The pairing with Tamina would make perfect sense as Lana needs some muscle to make her appear to be more of a threat while Tamina just needs something to do. Being the bodyguard for a heel is always a built in storyline for eventually turning someone into a sympathetic babyface.

Just as quickly as the rumor of Lana’s bodyguard began to get legs on Twitter, SmackDown head writer, Road Dogg B.G. James, appeared to shoot them down, telling fans “y’all are so impatient.”

He’s not wrong.
Modern wrestling fans are cursed with information. We want to know everything right now, yet we get disappointed when the WWE fails to surprise us.
Still, looking at all the evidence, we can’t help but assume that Tamina will be Lana’s muscle going forward. Her reasons for aligning with the Ravishing Russian will be the most interesting piece of the puzzle.

Did Rusev hire her to watch after his bride? Did she feel sorry for Lana after watching her continue to get trounced? Or is she harboring a deeper hatred for Naomi?
