The internet has been reeling this morning after President Donald Trump tweeted an edited Wrestlemania video that showed him symbolically beating down CNN. After this odd development in a long-running feud between the POTUS and the network, CNN has condemned the video and put the White House staff on blast.
Earlier in the week, deputy White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters "The President in no way form or fashion has ever promoted or encouraged violence. If anything, quite the contrary." CNN sees this WWE tweet as an obvious affront that clearly contradicts that statement.
"It is a sad day when the President of the United States encourages violence against reporters," a CNN spokesperson said via The Wrap. "Clearly, Sarah Huckabee Sanders lied when she said the President had never done so."
The spokesperson then railed into the president's ability to do his duty. They see the POTUS as taking juvenile shots at the press instead of dealing with foreign and domestic affairs.
"Instead of preparing for his overseas trip, his first meeting with Vladimir Putin, dealing with North Korea and working on his health care bill, he is involved in juvenile behavior far below the dignity of his office," they said. "We will keep doing our jobs. He should start doing his."
As to be expected, he captioned the tweet with the hashtags "#FraudNewsCNN" and "#FNN" (Fraud News Network).
