Tracking the Rumored WrestleMania 33 Card
Wrestlemania 33 is less than 2 months away, which means the WWE is quickly finalizing the card for [...]
Lesnar vs. Goldberg
Wrestlemania's "main event" will feature two part-timers that have already squared off several times. Goldberg stunned the world last fall when he pinned Brock Lesnar in under two minutes. He then tossed Lesnar out of the ring at Royal Rumble, continuing his dominance of the Beast Incarnate. Lesnar responded by challenging to Goldberg to a final showdown at Wrestlemania, to see which unstoppable force truly is dominant.
Lesnar is set for revenge at Wrestlemania, the only real question is whether it'll be for the WWE Universal Championship.
Big Show vs. Shaq
First teased at Wrestlemania 32 when Shaq and Big Show had a staredown during the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royale, this match has officially been on the card for months. Big Show has shown off his slimmed down physique recently on social media and on RAW, while Shaq has also hit the gym to prep for the match.
WWE Championship Match (Bray Wyatt vs. Randy Orton)
The longest running storyline is the weird partnership between Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton. The two wrestlers feuded after Summerslam, but Orton eventually joined the Wyatt Family after allegedly "seeing the light". Although Wyatt's chief lieutenant Luke Harper was suspicious of Orton at first, Orton saved Wyatt from Roman Reigns at Survivor Series and earned their trust. Orton also helped the Wyatts win their first ever Smackdown Tag Team Championships, although they quickly lost them a few weeks later due to miscommunication between Harper and Orton.
Wyatt and Orton have remained loyal to one another for months, but circumstances have recently pushed them towards a collision at Wrestlemania. Orton won the Royal Rumble last month, earning him a shot at a WWE Championship shot, while Wyatt won the WWE Championship last week at Wrestlemania. Orton forfeited his right to face Wyatt at Smackdown last week, forcing Daniel Bryan to announce a Battle Royale to determine Wyatt's next opponent.
Although it seems like this match isn't happening right now, there's 8 more weeks to Wrestlemania, which is plenty of time to put these two superstars on a collision course. Recently, there have also been rumors of adding Luke Harper, who abandoned Wyatt after he sided with Orton, to the rumored Wrestlemania match to make it a Triple Threat match.
Roman Reigns vs. Undertaker
This might be the most controversial match on the rumored Wrestlemania card. The groundwork was laid at the Royal Rumble, when Reigns dumped the Undertaker out of the Royal Rumble match. As Reigns stared down the Undertaker, he made it clear that the WWE is his turf now. The Undertaker hasn't been seen since, although he could make appearance in a few weeks at Fastlane.
If the WWE does go through with this match, this could be where Reigns makes his long awaited heel turn. Let's face it: Reigns is going to get nuclear heat at Wrestlemania if he does face the Dead Man. He might as well embrace it.
Triple H vs. Seth Rollins
Shortly after Finn Balor injured his shoulder at Summerslam, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Kevin Owens and Big Cass had a Fatal Four Way match to determine the next WWE Universal Champion. Triple H showed up halfway through the match to take out Reigns, but instead of helping Rollins win the match, he inexplicably turned on his one-time protege to back Kevin Owens instead.
Rollins has wanted revenge ever since, and he even showed up at the last NXT Takeover in an attempt to get Triple H's attention. The following week, Triple H appeared on Monday Night RAW and dispatched Samoa Joe to attack Rollins.
Unfortunately, Rollins suffered a legitimate knee injury that will put him out of commission until right before Wrestlemania. Rumors indicate that the WWE plans to have the Triple H/Rollins showdown at Wrestlemania, but they have a contingency plan in case Rollins isn't medically cleared by then.
John Cena and Nikki Bella vs. the Miz and Maryse
A mixed tag team match between John Cena and his girlfriend Nikki Bella versus the Miz and his wife Maryse is probably the weirdest match on the card. The rumored background for this match is that Nikki Bella could soon be taking some significant time off from wrestling due to complications with her recent neck surgery. As such, the WWE wanted to give her a final Wrestlemania showcase, just in case this turned out to be her final match.
So far, all the build up we've seen is Cena pinning the Miz at Elimination Chamber and Nikki accidentally spilling powder all over Maryse during a backstage fight with Natalya. That's not a whole lot of build, but we could see Miz and Maryse escalate things in the coming weeks.
Kevin Owens vs. Chris Jericho
Triple H might have handed the WWE Universal Championship to Kevin Owens, but he's retained it for nearly 6 months thanks to one man: Chris Jericho. Jericho and Owens became "best friends" in the months after Wrestlemania and formed a comedic yet deadly partnership. Although Jericho and Owens were heels, they got over with fans thanks to their hilarious antics, such as the "List of Jericho", a running tally of everyone who wronged the duo.
Sadly, that partnership came to end last week. After a brief chat with Triple H, Owens turned on Jericho during Jericho's "Festival of Friendship", a celebration of their successful partnership. After Jericho lavished Owens with gifts, Owens returned the favor by giving him the "List of KO", which only had one name....Jericho's. Owens then brutally beat down Jericho, leaving him bloodied, broken, and bewildered.
We still need to find out why Owens betrayed Jericho, but there's only one way this feud in the making ends: with a match at Wrestlemania.
Everything Else
There are still a ton of title matches up in the air right now. The Raw Women's Championship will likely feature some combination of Charlotte, Bayley, Sasha Banks, and Nia Jax, although we don't know who will have the belt going into the match. Dean Ambrose also seems to be heading towards a showdown with Baron Corbin, possibly with Ambrose's Intercontinental Championship on the line.
The WWE could also make title matches featuring the Raw and Smackdown Tag Team titles, the Smackdown Women's Title, or the Cruiserweight Championship. Finally, there's the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royale, which should feature any WWE wrestler that doesn't have another match on the card.
