The 15-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion, John Cena, announced via his official Twitter that he will be hosting the 2016 ESPY awards on July 13th.

Cena stated he was honored and excited to handle the responsibility and that July 13th "will be a date to remember, I promise that."

If you've been following Cena on social media, he's been steadily dropping hints about the gig including posting a V-shaped emblem of the Jimmy V Foundation, named after the legendary Jim Valvano, whose 1993 speech at the award ceremony remains iconic to this day.

He also had posted a picture of the ESPY Award on his Instagram account, leading to a huge amount of speculation to Cena being a part of the ceremony in some capacity.

"Not only will the biggest names of sports and entertainment to recognize some of the most spectacular athletic performances of the year," Cena said in an official release from ESPN, "but we'll also raise funds for The V Foundation to further much-needed cancer research."

The show's executive producer Maura Mandt summed it up when she said, "John is not only a superstar athlete and entertainer, but also a motivational force who inspires fans across the globe."

The ESPYs air at 8 PM ET, Wednesday, July 13th only on ABC.
