Perhaps only Hulk Hogan can claim he had a more dominant run in WWE than John Cena. However, John Cena’s past 10 years have been nearly impeccable. To the joy of many fans and the chagrin of others, John Cena rarely loses. In fact, hoards of fans would say he never loses.

Upon examining his last decade of work, it’s easy to understand that sentiment. Since 2007, John Cena has lost cleanly (without cheating/interference) 14 times. That’s 1.4 times a year!

Cena’s latest defeat removed him from Championship contention and currently, the figurehead of WWE doesn’t have a dancing partner for SummerSlam. He may be anxious to sit out the August event as he hasn’t won a singles match at SummerSlam since 2007. In the baseball world, that makes for quite the slump.

However, WWE may have already picked the next contestant to keep John Cena losing streak alive at SummerSlam.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, John Cena will be entering a feud with the Lone Wolf, Baron Corbin. For those who actually attended Smackdown in Cleveland, this doesn’t come as much of a surprise. As Cena AA’d Corbin through an announce table after SmackDown went off the air. That looks to be the jump off point for their rivalry.

For Corbin, a feud with Cena puts him under the brightest lights yet and makes another plot point in his rise. As the Current Mr. Money in the Bank, Corbin has been pegged by WWE officials as someone of future importance.

Cena, the 16x time champion, finds himself in an odd place. We’ve been reporting that he will be leaving SmackDown for RAW the day after SummerSlam. WWE wants him on their Monday Night flagship to help win the rating battle against Monday Night Football. With that said, can we expect him to win at SummerSlam? While entering the event as a lame duck doesn’t help his odds, smart money says he’ll still beat Corbin as Corbin may still choose to cash in his contract on either the RAW or SmackDown Champion.
