Jinder Mahal is officially the 50th WWE Champion in the company’s history. Shane McMahon announced that The Maharaja would be defending his WWE Championship for the first time at the Money In The Bank pay per view against former champ, Randy Orton.

June’s Money In The Bank will take place in Orton’s hometown of St. Louis and if WWE history is any indication, that is good news for Mahal. WWE loves to see babyfaces losing in their hometowns.

Mahal kicked off his Championship reign with a Punjabi Celebration and it was AWESOME!

Jinder came out with a parade of people in colorful costumes and awesome music. His entourage surrounded the ring and danced while Jinder soaked in the boos from the crowd.

I know we’re supposed to think Jinder is a heel here, but everything about this looked amazingโ€“much more impressive than Randy Orton walking out in a sleeveless hoodie.

WWE is making an interesting choice by branching out to India with a heel Champion as their representative, although, I suppose if you are from India, nothing Mahal says comes off as anything but honorable.

The WWE Universe were surprisingly complimentary of Mahal’s Punjabi celebration and the reactions from the people of Indian descent were downright cheerful.

Below are some of the best reactions.
