WWE Fails To Censor Kevin Owens On Talking Smack

In the scripted world of WWE, Talking Smack is a breath of fresh air. Instead of reading the words of some stodgy writer, talent are allowed to go off the cuff and say whatever comes to their mind. Which is why you would assume the WWE's censors would be on high alert for Kevin Owens appearance on last night's show.

Yet, when Owens was asked to comment on AJ Styles' Ron Burgandy reference, the production team fell asleep at the wheel.

As you can see in the video above, Owens says he found out what the Burgandy reference meant on Twitter. Daniel Bryan then asks him what it meant, and after a pause, Owens responds by saying "vagina." Renee Young bursts into laughter and then Owens gets censored out for the next few words.

AJ Styles made the dated reference during SmackDown when he said Owens was like what Ron Burgandy called San Diego. Ron Burgandy actually said Whale's Vagina, but whatever. Owens getting "vagina" through the censors is probably the most exciting thing to come out of the angle.

Thankfully, no one is making a big deal about the flub due to the fact that WWE is already making censorship headlines thanks to LaMelo Ball dropping the 'N word' on Monday's Raw.

WWE issued a statement on the younger Ball's words, saying, "The inappropriate language used by a guest during the 'Miz TV' segment was not scripted nor reflects WWE's values," WWE said in a statement to The Los Angeles Times.

With WWE's continued efforts to be a family-friendly, PG company, this past week is further proof why they'll be in no hurry to go back to the unscripted free form promos of their past. While wrestlers getting to be themselves is much more entertaining, it's simply too risky for the WWE to chance it.
