We will all find out what’s been haunting Kurt Angle since returning to WWE in 7 days.
Tonight, WWE spent some energy setting up next week’s big reveal. While Angle was in the ring with Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar, the Advocate was quick to point out that Angle is in no shape to be making decisions as he is too distracted with his personal demons. The very next segment had Angle and Corey Graves ominously discussing this evil plot and Angle claiming he’d handle it on the next episode of RAW.

But it didn’t stop there.
Up Next: Kurt Angle on Why Today’s WWE is Better Than the Attitude Era
After Dean Ambrose saved Seth Rollins from the Miztourage, WWE camera’s cut to Angle on the phone back stage.
We would only get the closing bit of the conversation but the curtains closed with Angle’s final line:
“We’ll do this together next week. I love you.”
What is going on, here? “I love you?” Oh man, WWE is spinning a fine tale. For months now Kurt Angle has been tortured by the anonymous blackmailer with only Corey Graves being the other party in the know.
This has proven to be quite the mysterious stoyline with not much room for guesses or spoilers. Some rumors have Triple H being the culprit behind the nefarious texts, which would set up a SummerSlam match between the Attitude Era heroes. Other than that, there’s not much wiggle room for prognosticating.

However, it does seem likely that Angle is prepping for a return to ring action. In an interview with Esquire, Angle wasn’t too subtle about wrestling in WWE in the near future:
“Well right now I’m just concentrating on my behind-the-scenes role as General Manager. I haven’t even had a physical yet and I don’t expect I will have one until they [the WWE] have some more detail of what they want me to do down the line. But is there a possibility? Yeah, there is a definite possibility! I think it’s more than likely it will happen. I don’t know if it has to do with this new storyline that’s going on right now, but I’m sure that it will happen eventually. I still haven’t taken a physical though so I’m not going to get my hopes up until I do that.”
If that weren’t enough, Angle has an emotional incentive to hop back in the ring one more time:
“Well I have three little ones who have actually never seen me wrestle – a 6-year-old, a 4-year-old, and a 7-month-old โ so I’ve always wanted to return for them. I want to show them what daddy can really do.”
It sure feels like we’re building to the Olympic Gold Medalist getting back into a WWE ring. We have a few guesses as to why, but who don’t know the who or the when. One thing that it certain? We’ll know more next week.
