Rachel Lindsay’s journey as The Bachelorette has officially come to an end, with the 32-year-old attorney from Dallas choosing Bryan Abasolo as her future husband during Monday’s episode of the ABC reality show.

Throughout the season, Abasolo has been a clear standout in Lindsay’s eyes, with the chiropractor from Miami scoring the First Impression rose as well as the first kiss of the season. As Abasolo is older than a number of other suitors who competed for Lindsay’s affections, his maturity allowed the pair to share a consistent relationship that ultimately led to him receiving the final rose.

Read on to see how the emotional finale played out, and whether host Chris Harrison thinks Lindsay and her pick will stay together.

Dramatic Goodbye to Peter

Before the final rose ceremony even occurred, Lindsay sent homeย runner-up Peter Kraus, a personal trainer fromย Madison, Wisconsin, in a dramatic turn of events.

Promos for the finale had teased Lindsay’s final choice as her toughest yet, and that was certainly the case. Krausย was sent home prior to the ceremony after having a discussion with Lindsay about his hesitation to ask for her hand in marriage.

Their final goodbye ended in plenty of tears and a kiss. Throughout the season, Kraus had expressed hisย hesitation about potentially proposing to someone he has only been dating non-exclusively for a period of weeks. During their last date, heย explained that he only wants to be engaged once in his life and wants to make sure it’s the real deal before popping the question, regardless of who his lucky lady may be.

Earlier in the episode, Lindsay also said goodbye toย Eric Bigger, a 29-year-old personal trainer from Los Angeles.

The Proposal

As is the custom inย Bachelorย nation, the proposal was a moment full of gorgeous scenery and a beautifulย gown, with Lindsay waiting for her final pick at the San Vicente de la Sonsierra Castle in Spain.

Whileย Abasoloย was the only man remaining in the season, his big engagement moment wasย just as special.ย

Lindsay wore a stunning sequined silver, gold gown with Abasoloย in a black suit. Despite the extreme wind, Abasoloย managed to express his emotions and love for Lindsay.ย

After sheย made it clear that Abasoloย was the last man standing, he got down on one knee and proposed.ย ย

“I just want to love you for the rest of my life,” Abasoloย said before bringing out the gorgeous Neilย Lane engagement ring. Lindsay responded with a loud, “Yes!”

Wedding Bells?

Despite the happy ending, host Chris Harrison toldย Glamour he doesn’t know if Lindsay andย Abasoloย will go the distance.

“Life’s not so simple, I don’t know,” he admitted when asked if he thinks the pair will last. “It’s so easy to sit on the sidelines and be that Monday morning quarterback and go, ‘No! They’ll never make it!’ It’sย hardย to make it. I’m the product of a divorce and my marriage failed, so I’m the first guy who’s not going to be throwing rocks. I thought Ben and Lauren would make it, and they didn’t. I’m sad. I hope Rachel does. That’s all I can say. I’m happy for them now, God bless ’em, and I will do everything in my power to help them.”

Despite that, the host did say that Lindsay is “engaged, she’s happy, and they’re in love.”

Wishing the happy couple the best of luck!
