'Modern Family' Joins Nickelodeon's 'Nick at Night' Lineup

The ABC sitcom will start airing on Nick at Nite on Sept. 9 at 2 a.m. ET.

The Dunphy-Pritchett family is on the move. Variety reports that ABC sitcom Modern Family will join the Nick at Nite lineup on Nickelodeon starting next week. The series will air on the network daily from 2-4 a.m. ET starting Sept. 9. This marks the first time that Modern Family will air within Paramount's family of brands.

"Nick at Nite is home to an exceptional roster of fan-favorite and critically acclaimed comedy series, including Friends, Mike & Molly, and Mom, and we are thrilled to have the Emmy Award-winning sitcom Modern Family join our nightly lineup," said Rachel Crain, senior vice president of programming and content strategy for Nickelodeon Networks. "Our Nick at Nite viewers are sure to connect with the heartfelt authenticity, hilarious honesty, and zealous bravery that has made 'Modern Family' such a pop culture staple around the world."

With Modern Family coming to Nick at Nite, it will be leaving a different network. According to Deadline, the sitcom will finish out its run on E! later this week. There will be a 14-hour marathon on Wednesday, Sept. 4, with the final episodes airing in the early hours on Sept. 6. The series did start airing on TBS nearly a year ago, and as of now, there's no indication that it will be leaving any time soon. Modern Family is also streaming on Peacock and Hulu.

Starring an ensemble cast that included Ed O'Neill, Sofia Vergara, Rico Rodriguez, Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Sarah Hyland, Ariel Winter, Nolan Gould, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet, and Aubrey Anderson, Modern Family ran for 11 seasons from 2009 to 2020. It won a total of 22 Emmy Awards and was nominated for many more. The show still remains a favorite today, and it helps that the cast still remains as close as ever. Some even reunited for a commercial in June.

While Modern Family's slot on Nick at Nite is not ideal, early risers or even night owls could still enjoy it, at least depending on when one wakes up or goes to sleep. It's possible that the series could change times at a later date, but for now, the middle of the night will be its permanent slot. It all begins when Modern Family comes to Nick at Nite on Monday, Sept. 9 at 2 a.m. ET.
