Michael Douglas Joins Netflix Series From 'Big Bang Theory' Creator

The Big Bang Theory creator Chuck Lorre has another show headed to Netflix, and he's attached some major star power for the starring role.

Michael Douglas will star in comedy series, titled The Kominsky Method, in the title role of Sandy Kominsky, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Kominsky is described as an actor who had a bit of success back in the day and is now an acting coach.

"Douglas plays a guy named Sandy Kominsky, who is a Hollywood acting coach with a little class in Hollywood at one of those black-box classrooms and a lot of young students," Lorre said. "He had a brief flirtation with fame a long, long time ago, but those days are gone."

Joining the Academy Award winner will be fellow acting great Alan Arkin. Arkin will play Norman, described as Kominsky's "long-suffering agent and friend."

"I wrote a script and we sent it to them and they said yes," Lorre said. "I'm so excited to work with people that I've admired for 45-50 years. Streets of San Francisco is the first time I saw Michael. Alan Arkin in The Russians Are Coming, The In-Laws … I didn't expect them both to sign on."

The show will be shot as a single-cam style, so it will feel less like The Big Bang Theory and more like its upcoming spin-off Young Sheldon.

The Kominsky Method will be Lorre's second Netflix venture, joining the upcoming Kathy-Bates-starring comedy Disjointed.
