Matt Hardy has certainly made quite the impression in TNA with his Broken Matt Hardy character, but the influence goes well beyond just Impact Wrestling, and might impact the silver screen somewhere down the line.

In an interview with ESPN, TNA's top guy Bill Corgan touched on how their B-movie inspired short films like The Final Deletion and Delete or Decay are perfectly in sync with their new creative direction, and Corgan has been pushing for more of it for quite some time.

"I have been pushing from the beginning that we needed to do what I call out-of-the-box and out-of-the-arena type segments," Corgan said. "I really saw this as the future of wrestling on television."

When The Final Deletion released, it generated immediate results, and Corgan didn't waste any time getting Delete or Decay into production. "This is lightning in a bottle," Corgan said. "I've seen this before."

Corgan envisions this as just the beginning of an ongoing series, expanding beyond just the Hardy's, and with the ramifications feeding directly into pay per view and televised events, like Delete or Decay has done with their upcoming match.

"So maybe like super hero movies, we get the Hardys as the center of the universe and start to use them to sort of branch off in other directions," Corgan said. "We are making it up as we go along and that is sort of the fun part. It's really exciting because we are hopefully writing a sort of new golden dawn in terms of how wrestling can be presented on television, and I think that's fantastic."

It naturally begs the question of a move into big screen territory, as WWE has done with its in-house movie studio. Corgan couldn't confirm anything, but he did say a Broken Matt Hardy film is "in the works."

If it does head to the big screen, it would mark a big feather in TNA's cap, as while WWE puts out films on a regular basis, their projects don't spin out directly from their on-air storylines. While they may or may not be your cup of tea, at least TNA is doing something different and is finally starting to set itself apart from other promotions.
