Former Disney star Demi Lovato has always been refreshingly candid with the media and with her fans, having no problem addressing what she feels are her flaws and taking steps to work on herself. From the pictures she recently posted to Snapchat, however, you’d have to look pretty hard to find any flaws at all.
The 24-year-old has been on a kick this past weekend of sharing photos of herself in revealing swimsuits, reminding her followers to embrace your body, no matter what condition you think it might be in.

When speaking with Entertainment Tonight in 2015, the singer explained her frustrations about “when things like that are set in society’s ideal of what beauty is” and how beauty expectations might get subconsciously ‘put into your brain.’
Lovato pointed out, ‘If you have [a gap] naturally, then great, embrace what you have.”
She continued, “But, if you don’t have one naturally, you don’t have to starve yourself or engage in unhealthy behaviors โ if you don’t have a thigh gap naturally, it doesn’t mean you aren’t beautiful.”

Earlier this year, the singer celebrated five years of sobriety, and in addition to problems with substance abuse, she has also struggled with eating disorders.
In a 2014 interview, Lovatoย admitted, “I no longer look at my body and think, Oh my gosh, I have such a fat butt. Or, I hate my thighs. On some days I don’t love them. But, you know, that’s one of the things that makes me.”
Her positive outlook and advice to her hordes of young followers has even earned her a spot as one of Time’s list of most influential people of 2017.
“Demi is using her hard-won wisdom to benefit others. After being diagnosed with bipolar disorder, instead of hiding it she partnered with Be Vocal, a campaign devoted to getting people to speak up about mental illness and the stigma around it,” Arianna Huffington said of the performer in the issue.
Huffington added, “She has also been a public role model, unashamedly chronicling her struggles with substance abuse (she is now five years sober) and eating disorders. And having been bullied as a child, Demi has taken up the cause to protect other children. Demi Lovato is a remarkably talented artist and performer. But her courage, honesty and willingness to use her own experiences to help others are what make her a true star.”
