Starbucks announced on Tuesday an all new frappuccino drink that comes with jelly chunks at the bottom. The new four-layed frappuccino beverage is filled with coffee jelly made from Starbucks' Roast Espresso Blend.
The new product is "made using the chain's roast espresso blend, the jelly chunks provide a strong hit of bitter coffee to the drink, pairing perfectly with a creamy custard vanilla sauce for a delicious bittersweet finish," according to Rocket News. In order for customers to be able to drink up all of those soft jelly pieces, the frappuccino comes with an extra-wide straw.
Not only do the unique flavors make the drink stand out, but also the four different layers give it an appearance worthy of posting on social media for all your fellow coffee enthusiast friends. The new aesthetically pleasing beverage is designed to be like a dessert in which there is "the bottom layer with frozen jelly melding with sweet custard vanilla sauce and frozen coffee above it, finishing with the pleasant taste of freshly whipped cream."
The new product offering was announced by Starbucks Japan on Twitter and received more than 27,000 retweets from fans in only one day. The drink will be offered in Japan for 590 Yen (US $5.62) from July 2 to August 31 at Starbucks stores around Japan.
Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz wrote in his book Onward, "Grow with discipline. Balance intuition with rigor. Innovate around the core. Don't embrace the status quo. Find new ways to see." Schultz and his wildly popular coffee company have definitely found a new way to see frappuccinos, and based on the twitter reaction from many Japanese Starbucks-goers, it seems as if the customers will be embracing this new shake up to the status quo with the new coffee jelly frappuccino announced today.
