Just like all her older sisters, the public eye has watched 20-year-old Kylie Jenner grow and evolve over the past 10 years. Jenner went from the baby of the Kardashian-Jenner clan to a young woman, aunt, and now billion-dollar cosmetic industry empress.
One widely discussed point of conversation when it came to Jenner? Her now famous lips and ever-changing look. Back in 2015, after months of speculation, she finally came clean and admitted that she’d had cosmetic work done on her lips. Later, she realized the look was too much for her and saw another plastic surgeon, Dr. Simon Ourian, to get them fixed.

In a recent interview with Women’s Wear Daily, Ourian said that Jenner is responsible for the uptick in young women seeking out plastic surgery.
“When she first talked about her minimal cosmetic procedures I saw a new trend of younger women who suddenly felt empowered to unapologetically want to look more beautiful. It’s like Kylie singlehandedly gave a whole generation the ticket to a more enhanced version of themselves,” Dr. Ourian explains.

Kylie Jenner in 2007
When “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” debuted in 2007, Kylie was a mere 10 years old. The youngest of the Kardashian-Jenner family, she was rarely seen without her older sister Kendall.
Above, she’s pictured on the right in an adorable knee-length dress and pair of shimmery flats. There’s nothing like a scrunchie holding up a high pony to relay pure, innocent youth.

In 2009, Jenner hit the red carpet at KIIS FM’s Wango Tango event in Irvine, California. She rocked straight-across bangs and simple eye makeup for an au-naturel look.
With the absence of lip balm (and complete with her curtsy-like pose), Jenner’s look is youthful and innocent.

Making every teenage girl in America green with envy, Jenner attended the premiere of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 in Los Angeles in 2011.
The 14-year-old’s lips and brows had yet to assume their famous shapes, but her lined eyes maintained the same penciled-in work from 2009.
Kylie Jenner in 2014
2014 ushered in a new era of fashion and cosmetics for Jenner. In May, the 16-year-old rocked turquoise tresses contrasted against a snow white spaghetti-strap dress at the Billboard Music Awards, but her freshly plumped pout stole the spotlight.
It wouldn’t be until a few months into 2015 that Jenner admits to receiving lip fillers.

A 19-year-old Jenner attends an event celebrating her mom Kris Jenner’s cover of Haute Living, matching a nude sleeveless turtleneck to her nude lips. Her long locks, flushed-out brows and smokey eye pull the look together nicely.
A few months before, Jenner finally spilled the beans about her lip work, saying on an episode of KUWTK that she received temporary lip fillers. She added that she had felt insecure about her lips since the age of 10. “It’s just an insecurity of mine, and it’s what I wanted to do,” she said in defense.
Older sister Kim Kardashian said that Kylie had been comparing herself against her sisters.
“I saw how for so many years she was so insecure about [her lips],” Kardashian told Access Hollywood. “I mean, at 10 years old, she would say to me, ‘How come my lips aren’t big like you guys?’
“And I would see this insecurity … For me, I gave her advice and I still stand by that advice,” Kim added. “I think it changed her confidence so much.”
Kylie Jenner in 2017
Today, Kylie rocks a slightly toned-down version of her plumped lips, having admitted in 2016 that she went back to “fix” them after her initial cosmetic surgery.
“Well, I definitely made my lips a little too big at one point,” Jenner told Allure, adding, “I got excited and felt like I needed to do a lot.”
“And then you guys were like, ‘Kylie, you need to chill,’” Jenner said. “And then I had to go back and have it fixed, and it was a crazy process. Thank God I didn’t end up on Botched.”
Ourian, Jenner’s current plastic surgeon (who has gained a steady social media following since Jenner has come clean about her cosmetic work) says that he’s proud of Jenner’s influence on young women.
“When she first talked about her minimal cosmetic procedures I saw a new trend of younger women who suddenly felt empowered to unapologetically want to look more beautiful. It’s like Kylie singlehandedly gave a whole generation the ticket to a more enhanced version of themselves,” Ourian told Women’s Wear Daily.
“I had treated hundreds of celebrities before but very few of them were bold enough to share their secrets with such transparency. Her influence was much that what was once a taboo has now become a bragging right. People want to brag about having their lips done. My social media patients put up a selfie with me so that they can say they came to our office.”
