Whether you’re throwing a birthday bash or bachelorette party, sometimes the best people to look to for party-throwing inspiration are the rich and the famous.
While we may not be able to hand over the wads of cash these celebs threw at their own bashes, we can certainly admire from afar (and think up our own budget-friendly versions!).

Live it up!
Julianne Hough’s bachelorette party was one for the ages. She and her crew traveled to Cabo San Lucas for a beach-themed bachelorette weekend. Based on photos and social media posts, it was one heck of a party, complete with dancing, drinking, tons of group photos and even a workout class! Click here to see more.
You do you.
Chrissy Teigen told Cosmo that her bachelorette party had a “no penis” policy and that instead of opting for crazy bachelorette antics, she and her gal pals just relaxed on the beach in Mexico, complete with a tequila/ceviche tasting.
Head to a romantic location.
For her last hoorah before marrying Kanye West, Kim Kardashian traveled to the City of Love with her closest friends. The crew visited the Eiffel Tower and took a walk outside the Louvre before jetting off to Florence, Italy for a few days.

It’s OK to keep it classy.
If making a big scene isn’t your thing, follow Kelly Clarkson’s lead and host an “adult tea party” for your bachelorette. Guests wore retro, flapper-era accessories while being served cocktails out of tiny tea pots labeled “moonshine,” “whiskey,” “scotch” and more.
Don’t forget the favors.
Just as you might imagine, the adorable ring-shaped cookies at Lauren Conrad’s bachelorette party were “almost too cute to eat… almost!”

Moms know best.
Tori Spelling’s mom planned a baby shower for Tori and hubby Dean McDermott’s fifth child, and it was perfectly adorable.
Use the tricks up your sleeve.
Inject some humor into a couple’s baby shower — like John Legend’s “baby daddy” crown at Chrissy Teigen’s first of two baby showers. Now that Baby Luna is here, we legitimately can’t get enough of her.
You can’t go wrong with a pun.
Justin Timberlake threw Jessica Biel the most goal-worthy 35th birthday party known to woman. His hopes were to “Make America Skate Again!” — and we think he succeeded. Justin and Jessica wore matching patriotic T-shirts complete with retro accessories like bellbottoms, calf-high socks and rolled-up shorts.

Sometimes weird is good.
Take Kim Kardashian West’s birthday party, for example. Husband Kanye rented out a theater for a Steve Jobs showing and gave each guest their own fake baby bump. “Not sure if that was to make me feel less huge or just a fun cool theme,” Kim pondered, “but I loved it & had the best time ever.”

Celebrate as many times as necessary.
Newlyweds Michael Phelps and Nicole Johnson threw not one, not two, but three wedding celebrations last year. The couple’s first secret wedding was held in Arizona in June and their second ceremony was in Mexico in late October. Then on New Year’s Eve they rang in 2017 with a final (?) kickass 1920s themed party.

Themes are a must.
A fun theme gives any party a fun boost, and your guests might even dress the part! After all, Derek and Julianne Hough dressed up at Nina Dobrev’s La La Land themed birthday party in January.
Big bday for my boys! Double digits whoop whoop! ?

Take a cue from your kids.
For Britney Spears’ sons Sean Preston and Jayden James’ joint birthday party, Britney organized the ultimate Pokémon theme, complete with tons of treats and a giant poolside balloons.

Kids love pool parties.
Jessica Alba and Cash Warren threw their daughter Haven an epic watermelon themed pool party, making our inner 5-year-old selves quite jealous indeed. The party featured everything watermelon from fruit-shaped balloons, cupcakes and other goodies from Sunnylife.

Do what makes your kiddos happy.
Reese Witherspoon shared her son Tennessee’s fourth birthday party, which happened to be Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles themed, by the way. With Tennessee beaming from ear to ear, we’d see Reese nailed this one.
