Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd welcomed their first child, son Shai Aleksander, on Jan. 4, and the new parents have been keeping their baby boy to themselves since his birth, soaking up important moments with their son and enjoying their first weeks as parents.

Now, the pair are ready to share their son with the world, and appeared on Good Morning America Friday in a pre-taped segment to talk about their journey into parenthood.

The couple shared that their new bundle of joy looks like his mom for now, but Chmerkovskiy joked that he was hoping his son would get his looks.

"I'm hoping he'll look like me and have [Peta's] personality," he said.

As far as whether baby Shai will follow in the footsteps of his talented parents? "I hope never," Chmerkovskiy said when asked if his son would become a dancer. Murgatroyd heartily agreed.

Along with adjusting to life as parents, the pair are also planning a wedding, with Murgatroyd revealing that their nuptials will be a three-day affair with 300 people. "It's a lot," she said.

The Dancing With the Stars pros shared that they wanted to keep their son to themselves for as long as possible.

"We just wanted to keep him for ourselves," Murgatroyd explained, adding that having Shai has changed her life for the better.

"It's not about me anymore," she said. "It's all about Shai, and it's amazing."
