Maksim and Val Chmerkovskiy Jokingly Reveal How They Plan to ‘Use’ Baby Shai to Get ‘DWTS’ Votes

The cast Dancing With the Stars season 24 has finally been revealed and let’s just say, it is packed with very talented stars!

Entertainment Tonight caught up with the pros and their partners on Wednesday and got the inside scoop on Baby Chmerkovskiy. “He’s an amazing baby,” Maks said. “He’s a Chmerkovskiy baby, so he’s going to be a problem later on. But for now, we’re good.”

Maks told ET that he plans on using his son to help rack up votes during the season.

“[Peta and I will] totally use the baby for the votes,” he said. “I told her, I said, ‘Listen, I get the dibs,’ because she gets the sympathy, with like, a baby momma coming back. We just need something, yeah. If I have a sexy, what is it, little harness…”

“Val wants to use the baby for some self-promotion, too,” he added. “So, it’s not weird.”

Val noted that he loves seeing the change in his brother since becoming dad.

“Our relationship hasn’t changed. [Maks] loves me. But, for the majority of his life, I’ve been his baby,” Val dished. “I’ve been his — I am his best friend, I’m the love of his life. That’s the truth.”

“We have a great relationship,” he added. “I’ve always been Maks’ main dude, you know, and you can see just how Shai is ultimately the apple to his eye. He is his priority. He’s the only thing he thinks about, and the person — he becomes alive when he’s around his son, so, it’s awesome.”

Maks and Peta are truly enjoying parenthood and finally treated their fans to adorable photos of their newborn Shai last week. The couple wanted to keep their son away from the public eye in his first few weeks of life.

Maksim shared a sweet photo holding his son, writing, “Practicing ventriloquism #babyChmerkovskiy.”
