Katie Holmes Models Her Parenting Style After Her Own Mother

Katie Holmes is a single parent to her daughter Suri, but she has a great role model to make the job a little easier.

The actress and director revealed that she admires her own mother, Kathleen Holmes, and hopes to emulate her as she raises her own daughter, who she had with Tom Cruise.

“She’s just so kind and has such a pure heart; she really leads with those two qualities, so I try to do the same,” Holmes told PEOPLE during an interview at the opening for the restaurant Avra Madison in New York City.

“She’s just so kind and very generous, so I try my best to embody that and pass that on to my own daughter,” she added.

Holmes spends a lot of time with her mother and daughter as much as possible. The night before the opening, they celebrated Kathleen Holmes’s birthday at the Cartier Mansion.

“It’s always a blessing to be able to have time with my mom – especially time in the city with her,” Holmes shared. “We always have a good time.”
