Chrissy Teigen Gets Real About Motherhood and Having It All

If there’s one thing we all love about Chrissy Teigen, it’s her unabashed honesty. And there’s nothing she’s been more honest about than motherhood.

The Lip Sync Battle star and model is breaking it down for fans and critics by revealing how she’s “lucky” to have a baby nurse, husband, and mother helping care for her daughter, Luna, who is almost 11 months old.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Teigen commends working mothers and says she’s not quite sure how they do it. In addition to raising her baby girl, she continues to work as a model, co-hosts Spike TV’s Tonight Show spinoff, and developing her second cookbook.

When asked how she “does it all,” the mom had a simple answer: “Having help.”

“Every time I look at [my daughter] Luna, I wonder, ‘How on earth does anybody do this alone?’ I have the utmost respect for mothers [and] single mothers,” revealed Teigen, who added she thinks it’s “important to be very honest with people” about the help she receives.

“My mom lives with us. I have hair and makeup people,” Teigen said. “I’m not getting up and doing all this by myself. If I’m not being done for something, I’m not going anywhere. A lot of hands go into it. We have help. It’s important for people to know that.”

​

Teigen might look flawless in the new photos from Sports Illustrated‘s swimsuit edition, which she shot just six months after giving birth to baby Luna, but she says she would not be able to get back into shape so quickly without “access” to special resources.

“We’re [celebrities] given all the tools to be able to get ourselves together and to be able to leave the house for a little bit and go work out and eat well, and I think that’s not something that everyone has access to.”

When it comes to date night and keeping the flames alive, Teigen considers herself, “lucky” as the time the couple has together is a luxury she doesn’t take for granted.

“Not a lot of people can go on date nights, can have a sitter and have someone take care of their baby,” she said. “‘Me time’ is important, but not everybody can do it.”

​

With a fond admiration for spending time with her little girl and savoring every mome, Teigen says, “I’ve never had more appreciation for anyone in my entire life until I became a mom.”

Teigen savors every moment with her daughter. In an interview with Yahoo! Style she said her perfect day includes “waking up with Luna, singing silly songs to her about poop.” Not to mention, watching her daughter sleep.
