In the months since Christina and Tarek El Moussa’s split, rumors and half-truths have abounded, so now both sides of the couple are taking the chance to set the record straight.
After Christina appeared on Good Morning America Tuesday morning, Tarek sat down with the Today Show to tell his side of the story and revealed that there have been even more challenges happening behind the scenes, including a secret health scare.

The father of two revealed that three years ago he was diagnosed with testicular cancer.
“Getting the thyroid cancer was hard enough, and then a few weeks later, finding out I had testicular cancer, I literally thought I was going to die,” Tarek admitted on the Today show Feb. 21.

At the time, El Moussa shared that he had battled thyroid cancer after a fan watching the show noticed a concerning symptom.
The viewer contacted producers and alerted them that she was concerned. A trip to the doctor confirmed that the HGTV host had cancer.

The host said he chose to share the news of his testicular cancer now in order to raise awareness.
“I didn’t want to come out with it. It was more of a personal thing. For me, the reason I’m coming out is for awareness. When I came out that I had thyroid cancer, a lot of people also found out they had thyroid cancer, so I feel it’s something I had to do.”
