Gwen Stefani may have moved on in love with Blake Shelton, but she recently opened up about how challenging life is after her 13-year marriage to Gavin Rossdale ended.

“It’s still painful,” Stefani said during an interview with Good Morning America April 4. “I’m still looking at the pieces going, ‘What is happening?’ There’s so many great things but it’s still super hard to have your family break up … What do you do after that? Like, here we are.”

The No Doubt frontwoman got really emotional and struggled to find the right words.

“I felt like I was so, I was so โ€“ I can’t even find the words, oh my God โ€“ I was embarrassed, and I felt like, ‘Wow, I can’t go down. This is not who I am, I’m not gonna fail’,” she said. “I had to make something good out of it, so I tried to write … I was like, ‘I’m gonna do this, I’m gonna make this into music.’”

As her third solo album “This Is What the Truth Feels Like” is set to release, Stefani credits music with helping her heal and move on.

“I was literally just trying to get up in the morning. And I got there and I just said, ‘I just wanna write a record. I don’t care about anything but getting this out and healing… Nothing matters except for just trying not to die right now.’”

Stefani and Rossdale announced their split August 2015 and almost 8 months later, she is still figuring it out and how it works for her family.
