Maksim Chmerkovskiy Reveals Exciting Family News With Peta Murgatroyd

Maksim Chmerkovskiy loves being a parent and wants to do it as many times as he can!

It has been over two months since Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd welcomed their first child together. Since then, the Dancing With the Stars pro has fully embraced his role as father to his son Shai.

In fact, he can’t stop thinking about the possibility of expanding his family even more!

Chmerkovskiy and Murgatroyd welcomed their son on Jan. 4 and have been infatuated with him ever since. The couple was adamant about keeping his appearance private for at least the first couple of weeks.

Recently, they introduced Shai to the world and have been posting adorable photos of the little guy ever since.

Chmerkovskiy revealed to E! News his favorite part about being a father. 

“I feel like the best part of having a child is you get to influence a brand-new human,” he shared. “If you’re going to complain about some of the things happening in the world nowadays, you need to look at the generation that you are raising and say okay, the best way to change or to alter or to upgrade this world is to instill things in your children that you want them to have as adults and push that out.”

As the couple prepares for the season premiere of Dancing With the Stars, they continue to make their son their highest priority and will never miss one of his big milestones.

“He farted a couple of times. It was super cute. The first time he yawned I thought I was going to lose my mind,” Chmerkovskiy said. “The first time he giggled I needed to walk away and reset, come back, because I was like, ‘This was the best thing that has ever happened to me.’ Everything first that he does is amazing.”

As for their plans for expanding their family in the future, the couple is completely open to the option of adopting. 

Chmerkovskiy wants to have a large family and would like to “have as many kids as Peta decides to pop out.”

“I think we’re going to have as many kids as we can ourselves and just adopt a couple of kids,” he said. “I just want a big family.”

Murgatroyd and Chmerkovskiy are about to have a hectic schedule as new parents on the new season of DWTS. However, the couple leans on each other to help balance their work and family roles.

“I miss her now. She misses me the second I get to the airport. Sharing a child is an incredible opportunity to figure out who you are as a person and we are settling into our roles as parents I think the right way,” he shared with E! News. “We’re just going to rely on one another and rely on our love, our unity and the sky is the limit.”
