Joanna Gaines of HGTV’s ‘Fixer Upper’ Reveals Dream Career Plans

Chip and Joanna Gaines, the couple behind the hugely successful HGTV home renovation show Fixer Upper, shared with Entertainment Tonight that the show’s huge success is a “dream come true.”

Joanna explained, “For me, it’s a dream come true because at the end of the day, what we’re passionate about is creating homes for families.”

The couple’s construction company, Magnolia Homes, has remodeled over 100 homes with Joanna as the lead designer and Chip managing the construction.

Joanna says that while they knew they’d be successful, they never imagined that their work would be shared on such a national and public platform.

And as far as the silliness that viewers see on the show that makes it so likable?

Joanna says, “What you see on TV is censored. He’s 10 times crazier in real life, and I get to put up with it. I’m the lucky lady.”

The couple raise their four children in a 113-year-old farmhouse in Waco, Texas that boasts 40 acres filled with chickens, horses, goats and Texas longhorn cattle, but what you won’t find is a television set.

The couple have to travel to see themselves on TV, something that Joanna explains leads to a lot of “binge-watching” in hotel rooms.

And though they’ve expanded their work to operating a shop called Magnolia Market, have written a book called “The Magnolia Story” due in October and have opened a bakery called Magnolia Flour, Joanna revealed to fans on Facebook Live that she’d really love a cooking show some day.
