It’s hard to get George Clooney star struck, but it seems that his recent trip to Italy left him exactly that way upon meeting one megastar whose name the whole world knows—Pope Francis.
Clooney and his wife Amal were in Italy to attend an awards ceremony at the Vatican over the weekend where Clooney was awarded with a medal for his work with Scholas Occurrentes, an educational organization founded by the pontiff, Entertainment Tonight reports.

Richard Gere and Salma Hayek were also recognized at the event and the three of them will serve as ambassadors for for the foundation’s art projects.
As per usual, the Clooneys looked fabulous while in Italy, and dressed exceptionally well for the event where they shook hands with The Pope.
The meeting left George and his wife smiling from ear to ear – one of our favorite looks on the A-List actor.
