Chrissy Metz Can’t Stop Gushing About Her Boyfriend Josh Stancil, Calls Him the ‘Real Life Toby’

Chrissy Metz is totally smitten with boyfriend Josh Stancil, a cameraman on This Is Us, and now that the pair have gone public, the actress can’t stop gushing about her man.

The two hit the red carpet together for the first time at Entertainment Weekly‘s pre-SAG Awards party on Jan. 28, and Metz stopped by People NOW recently to talk about how she and Stancil maintain their healthy relationship.

“My priority is my job and his priority is his,” Metz explained. “He’s been doing this for many … 15, 16 years, and he even said to me, ‘Listen, if it’s ever weird, I will leave. I will leave the show and go work on another show.’ I’m like, ‘No! Don’t leave the show.’ “

“But I am there as Kate. I’m there to do a job, and it’s never become an issue,” she continued. “The one where I sang ‘Time After Time,’ he texted me — it was so funny, it was when we first started chatting — and he was like, ‘I’m so nervous for you, today.’ I was like, ‘Don’t tell me that! I’m nervous. Don’t tell me you’re nervous for me!’ “

Metz also dished about some of the sweet things Stancil has done for her, like putting a note inside her clutch for the Golden Globes that she opened at the show. 

“It was sweet. [It said], ‘You are already a winner no matter what and I love you.’”

When asked if Stancil was the “real-life Toby,” Metz couldn’t help but agree. “He’s amazing,” she said.
