Mary-Kate Olsen is just your average billionaire child star turned ultra-successful fashion mogul.

“I have a husband, two step-kids and a life; I have to go home and cook dinner,” the designer said in an interview with NET-A-PORTER‘s digital magazine, The EDIT.
This is the first time Mary-Kate has spoken of her husband, Oliver Sarkozy, who is the half-brother of former French President Nicolas Sarkozy. The former child star and her 47-year-old banker husband wed in November 2015 at a private home in New York City with just 50 guests in attendance.
With the twins staying out of social media, it’s easier for the dynamic duo to keep their private lives private.
“Because we don’t dive into that whole world [of social media] and we don’t have Facebook, we’ve never been connected to our fans in that way,” Ashley said. “We’ve stayed quite sheltered in that sense.”
The Olsens instead have chosen to connect with their audience through their clothes, something they say started when they were young.
“When we were younger, being in the public eye was almost part of our role and responsibility — to set the trends at that time or be ahead of fashion,” Mary-Kate said.
“We just want to help women feel however they want to feel. Every once i a while, we want to change our perfume or our haircut; we want to wear heels or flats. We just like to switch it up. That’s the beauty of clothes.”
