On Wednesday, Netflix announced that the streaming service had officially nabbed the Coens’ new series.
The Ballad of Buster Scruggs is a western anthology series containing six separate stories about the American frontier. According to the press release, each of the tales will tell a distinct story about the American West.
There aren’t a lot of details about the project at this point, but there is a star attached. Tim Blake Nelson, who has worked with the Coens on several occasions, will star as Buster.
The Coen Brothers will write and direct the series, as well as serve as executive producers.
In their official statement about the deal, Joel and Ethan Coen said, “We’re streaming motherf*****s!”
“The Coens are visionary directors, masterful storytellers, and colorful linguists. We are thrilled for Netflix to become home to the full range of their talents,” said Netflix Original Content VP Cindy Holland.
The Ballad of Buster Scruggs is set to premiere on Netflix sometime in 2018.
