WWE nearly had no choice but to put Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman, Samoa Joe and Brock Lesnar in the same match a SummerSlam. The Fatal 4-Way may literally be the biggest match in recent memory, on top of it being crucial for hierarchy of power in WWE

When Kurt Angle made the match, fans appeared to be excited. But Jim Ross thinks a tiny change needs to be made.

On his most recent blog post, Good Ol' JR proposed an amendment to make the SummerSlam main event that much better:

"Love the booking of the SummerSlam main event featuring a four-way with Lesnar, Reigns, Strowman, and Joe. As a fan, I'm curious as to how it would play out if the four-way featured elimination rules? Nonetheless, is there a way for this match to be so well executed that every man in the match enhances their TV personas to some degree no matter the outcome? Absolutely."

Of course, Jim Ross comes up with a savvy idea. Turning the Fatal 4-Way into an elimination style match takes an already compelling match and shoots the intrigue through the roof. This allows for a one-on-one star making moment. Imagine Brock Lesnar and Braun Strowman as the final two gladiators. Or what if Lesnar is eliminated early and we spend the entire match waiting for the new champion to be crowned? Too juicy.

This match is loaded with steamy precedent. Roman Reigns and Strowman have been trying to kill one another for all of 2017. Joe and Lesnar have been in a blood feud since June. And Brock and Roman still have unfinished business from their WrestleMania 31 match. It seems like WWE will have to go out of their way to screw up this finish.

SummerSlam's Fatal-4way makes for old school showcase of monsters that made WWE what it is today. There may not be enough canvas in the ring to support a match between those four behemoths. It seems parody is at an all time high with Lesnar flirting with UFC again. This means that every one of these guys is an option to leave Summerslam as Universal Champion. Even better, there is no clear favorite. And when we have to resort to guessing, that's when wrestling is at its finest.
