Only two months ago, the thought of turning Bayley heel was laughable. However, now that the WWE‘s favorite hugger has hit a bit of a slump, anything is possible. On the latest edition of Steve Austin’s podcast, the former Women’s Champion revealed that she does have a few ideas for a heel turn. In the interview, which was transcribed by Cageside Seats, Bayley told Austin that she would model much of her behavior after the late WWE Hall of Famer, Eddie Guerrero.
“As far as wrestling and stuff, and him being amazing and being able to do it all, literally one of the guys that can do it all, I remember watching him โ this was like a couple of years ago, so I was already here โ and I was watching his old matches in WCW when he was just a heel coming out with his hair soaking wet. He looked miserable! You don’t get that anymore out of heels being like coming out like they’re completely miserable and that makes you likeโฆ “Gah, dude, if you don’t want to be here just don’t come then!” That’s how I felt watching him. It’s like “Why are you even doing this if you don’t even want to do it?”

“And then he’d get into the ring and be so nasty and just have that look of like disgust and he was too good for it all. I don’t know, it was something about that, like, I always told myself too if I were to ever be heel I want to make myself so miserable because that’s one of the most hateable things, I think.”

On the same episode, Bayley opened up about her recent slump.
“I feel like right now I’m in a weird spot with my career. When I first came I felt like ‘OK, I’m still from NXT’ I felt like I knew exactly what I was doing but now, I’m still figuring it out. So, I’m in a weird spot right now.”
Props to her for having the self-awareness of needing to improve. This isn’t the first time that an NXT star has struggled once their new car smell faded on the main roster. In fact, it seems a few months after their promotion the WWE rookies all go through a similar funk. For Bayley, it’s been particularly bad, though.

There have been rumors about WWE trying some new creative angles to kickstart The Queen of Huggers. But, they don’t sound too promising as they involved a romance angle with Corey Graves.
While WWE shouldn’t give up on Bayley’s future as the Women’s Division’s biggest babyface, we would love to see what she could do with slick-backed hair and a bad attitude.
