Next month Vince McMahon will turn 72-years-old. It’s possible that a steady diet of Stone Cold Stunners, chair shots to the head, and performance enhancing drugs will keep him alive for 100 more years.

However, the day will come when Vince McMahon can no longer be the alpha and omega of WWE. If they haven’t already, WWE will have to re-align the hierarchy of power and pick a new esteemed leader.

All signs point to that being Triple H.

When The Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling asked if he thought The Game was right for the job, former Attitude Era Superstar, D-Lo Brown, had nothing but faith in his old rival:

“He is always one of the boys. He is a ring general and he knew had control of the ring and that was something he was really good at. He was really respected in the locker room and I never saw that business side of him until he got into it and I thought that he was perfect for that by just knowing him. I didn’t see it happening but once you start to see it than you say okay, he is going to do really well.”

D-Lo Brown’s endorsement is a strong one but doesn’t come as surprising. Triple H has long been lauded for his professional demeanor both in and out of the ring. Jim Ross has consistently stated that Triple H was always the most level-headed of his peers and was the best representative to talk “the business” with. Since taking on a full-time executive role in WWE, Triple H has proven all of this to be true.

In his creation of NXT, The Game has provided a resource that gives exponential returns. Not long ago, WWE’s development program was hidden in Florida working more as a gym than a promotion. However, NXT has evolved into WWE’s own independent promotion, turning an entity that WWE used to have to feed funds into a money making machine. With their highly popular PPV’s, NXT has become the best “Indy” promotion on the planet. This made it the ultimate attraction for veterans like Samoa Joe, Bobby Roode, and Seth Rollins who eagerly made the jump to the WWE subsidiary. NXT is not just a proving ground for young talent, it’s become a pool for WWE to breed future champions. On every level, NXT has been a smashing success.

Triple H currently works under the title Executive Vice President of Talent, Live Event, and Creative. In short that reads: Vince McMahon’s successor. At 48 (today) Triple H still has a few more matches left in him and the last time the head of WWE fought his battles in the ring, we were given the Attitude Era.
