The world of Hollywood is still shocked by the sudden and tragic passing of 39-year-old actor Nelsan Ellis.
The late True Blood star has been shown an outpouring of love since his death, particularly from those who worked with him on the hit HBO series. Co-stars like Anna Paquin and Joe Manganiello have penned touching tributes to Ellis, saying goodbye to their dear friend.
While everyone who worked on True Blood has said their goodbye in some form, Ellis' closest co-star, Rutina Wesley, is now speaking up. Ellis and Wesley played cousins on the series, so they shared many scenes together, helping them grow close over time.
In memory of Ellis, Wesley wrote him a poem, which was released by EW on Tuesday.
He was a lover, he loved everything which is why people didn't understand him. That's the beauty of it. He thought everything was beautiful. Everything. So poetic, charasmatic, an energy none can compare…one who touched so many forever, deep, in places they cannot reach….a spirit so divine and fine….a chameleon…transforming before you and you….transforming because of him. He could move your soul to whole….in a moment….an arTeest!…like nothing I've seen or will ever see again. A darkness wrapped up in light, tight, yearning…searching…moving seas of hearts with a smile that darts…right through you….how I loved you…fiercely vulnerable shining beacon…stand tall my friend, rest, peace has finally found you…..
According to Ellis' family, the actor died from heart failure due to alcohol withdrawal.
