Sydney Sweeney Teases Return to 'Euphoria' as Season 3 Nears Production

Sweeney revealed she's "very excited to jump back into Cassie" for the long-delayed third season of 'Euphoria.'

Production on the long-delayed third season of Euphoria is nearly right around the corner, and Sydney Sweeney is teasing her comeback. When the actress isn't taking over the film industry in projects such as Anybody But You or Immaculate, she stars in the HBO teen drama as Cassie Howard. The series has become notorious for how long it's taken for Season 3 to release, getting pushed back on numerous occasions. However, it was recently revealed that production will officially start in January 2025, and Sweeney is as excited as ever to return to the role.

"I'm very excited to jump back into Cassie," Sweeney told PEOPLE. "She is definitely one of the most special characters for me, and I love my Euphoria family, so I look forward to it. I love crazy Cassie, so the crazier, the better for me." Unfortunately, she did reveal that she doesn't "know anything about it" in regards to Season 3 storylines and how much crazier Cassie will be. Considering Season 2 saw Cassie lose it due to her relationship with Nate and her friendship with Maddy, Season 3 will likely up the ante.

It was announced in July that Euphoria was set to start production in January for Season 3, with the full cast returning, including Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Alexa Demie, Jacob Elordi, Maude Apatow, and Sweeney, even with the other projects they've secured during hiatus. Barbie Ferreira left after Season 2, and following Angus Cloud's death last year, the new season will definitely have a weird feeling, both when filming starts and when it begins airing. There will also be some type of time jump when the show comes back, but it wouldn't be surprising if there were some flashbacks here and there to help catch viewers up.

A premiere date for Euphoria Season 3 has not been set, but it's reported to premiere in 2025, with a possibility of even 2026. Fans have already been waiting over two years and by the time filming starts, it will have been three years since Season 2 premiered. Waiting a little bit longer will be like nothing at this point. At the very least, there will finally be something to look forward to in the near future, even if it is taking a long time for Euphoria to return. In the meantime, the first two seasons are streaming on Max.
