Game shows are great for all kinds of moments, from the victorious to the downright cringeworthy, and this clip from BBC show Letterbox definitely falls into the latter category.
The premise of the game is for the contestant to alternate between choosing letters and guessing the correct password, with the clue for this particular password being “fictional character.”

Contestants Troy and Lyndsey alternated between guessing, and both of them were totally stumped despite letters continuing to appear on the screen.
Throughout all of this, host Mel Giedroyc was clearly flabbergasted as the contestants appeared to be the only people in the entire building who didn’t know the answer, including Troy and Lyndsey’s teammates.

We’ve all had those moments when the answer to a problem was clearly right in front of us but remained just out of reach, and it appears the show’s contestants experienced the same obstacle, resulting in the hilarious fail.
The answer, of course, was Quasimodo, from The Hunchback of Notre Dame, which Troy finally guessed correctly.
