Thanks to the reboot of American Idol, the quest for the most dominant singing competition on television has picked up full steam, and Fox has thrown its hat in the ring and given a series order to The Four, a new singing competition series from ITV Entertainment and Armoza Formats, Variety reports.
In a variation on classic shiny-floor singing competitions, The Four will select four finalists in the premiere episode, and each week, new contestants will attempt to take one of the four spots. The series finale will see four winners named. No talent has yet been announced in connection with the show.

Variety previously reported that Fox ramped up production on the new show after the American Idol deal was confirmed. The show is produced by ITV Entertainment in association with Armoza Formats.
Fox canceled American Idol just two seasons ago, and the rebooted show will now find a home on ABC, while NBC remains strong with tentpole competition series The Voice.
