ABC is in talks with one of its lead stars of the network for a new comedy series about a former Bollywood star.

Variety learned exclusively on Friday that the subsidiary of the Disney Media Networks is developing a sitcom, executive produced by Quantico‘s Priyanka Chopra.
The untitled, single-camera series would follow a former Bollywood star who settles down in the suburbs of America with her bi-cultural family and tries to bring her vibrant life to an otherwise colorless town.
The series is based on the real life of acclaimed actress, Madhuri Dixit, who will also executive produce with her husband, Sriram Nene, and features the writing of Sri Rao, who has written for shows like, General Hospital: Night Shift.

Chopra took to Instagram to share the news, saying that one of her favorite jobs is to tell stories across all genres and languages to varied audiences.
“Today I’m happy to share with you another step I’ve taken on that creative journey, in my role as a producer,” she said. “This particular story is one of a few Hollywood projects that I am currently developing.”
Acclaimed TV veterans showrunners, Mark Gordon and Nick Pepper will executive produce through the Mark Gordon Company (MGC), which currently produces Ray Donovan, Grey’s Anatomy, and Quantico, among many other shows. ABC Studios will co-produce with MGC.
