A UK woman was admitted to the emergency room after blowing her nose. The movement caused her right eye to swell to the size of a golf ball causing her pain. The 32-year-old patient went to the hospital suffering for a few hours, but was still able to see out her eye, despite swelling.
A CT scan revealed that the woman had orbital emphysema, a swelling caused by air the soft tissues around the eye. The scan also showed evidence of a nasal bone structure, but the woman had no memory of facial trauma.
