Muhammad Ali Hospitalized for Respiratory Problems
06/05/2016 09:11 am EDT
Muhammad Ali has been hospitalized for a respiratory issue, his rep told Entertainment Tonight, saying that the Ali family "respectfully requests privacy" during this time.
"Ali, who suffers from Parkinson's Disease, is being treated by his team of doctors and is in fair condition. A brief hospital stay is expected," the statement says.
The Olympic gold medal-winning athlete was diagnosed with the debilitating disease in 1984.
A source close to Ali told ET that he has been struggling with the issue for "some time." Ali was invited to the Prince tribute held in Los Angeles a few weeks ago, but couldn't make it because of the medical issue.
Another source said that Ali is "getting weaker" and it's "harder for him to recover from chronic health issues."
We wish the star boxer a speedy recovery.
