The latest American Horror Story teaser has a much different feel than that of the other previously released trailers. The most recent promo spot has a vintage feel that is reminiscent of something you might see on Ryan Murphy’s spoofier anthology series Scream Queens.

The new clip is called “Blind Date,” and features a blond woman in pearls and a red dress wading through a foggy swamp. The woman is then dragged underwater by a large green monster as she screams “I have to get back to my sorority.” The trailer has a surprise “happy” ending as the woman’s hand rises from the water intertwined with the monster’s green hands.

The teaser has an intentionally cheesy vibe that is drastically different from that of the other teasers previously released. However, if you’re totally confused by the promo trailers for season six, then Ryan Murphy and FX CEO John Landgraf will be totally pleased. This is likely just another attempt by the showrunners to misdirect the fans of the show as to the true theme and setting for the upcoming sixth season. Other promo clips have included insects crawling on faces, wind chimes made of human teeth, and extraterrestrial beasts.

“They went out and made many more trailers than you’ve actually seen for…different genres and different places,” Landgraf explained. “I just love it on an artistic level. One of them is accurate, the others are all misdirects…We just thought that would be a nice change…all I can say is there is a theme, a setting and a place, but we’re not going to reveal it.”

Looks like we will all have to wait until Season 6 premieres on Wednesday, September 14 at 10 p.m. ET to find out the actual theme for the show.
