The 2017 Academy Awards were full of memorable moments, but The Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons almost missed out on them all as he suffered a major setback on his journey to the Oscars and was stranded without ID for over an hour.
Parsons, who starred in the Oscar-nominated Hidden Figures, documented the entire saga on his Instagram account, revealing that he got locked out of the house after forgetting his ID, making it pretty difficult to get into the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, where the Oscars were being held.

Parsons began his saga by sharing that he had left his ID inside, but was locked out.
“Locked out of house without ID which, apparently, you need to get into the Oscars… waiting on someone to get here and let me in,” the actor explained. “Academy Awards, 2017… off to an auspicious beginning…!”

The actor followed that up with an adorable shot of his pups.
“Why didn’t I teach them how to work a lock on a door???” he wrote.
Next, he shared a shot of his tux, just in case he didn’t make it to the show in time to hit the red carpet.

Naturally, he celebrated making it to the show by posting a “selfie” with Meryl Streep, which is what we would all do if we were in his place.
“Whatever else happens, Meryl and I shared a laugh,” Parsons wrote. “Kind of.”
